MONTREAL - Charges have been filed against 13 more city employees, including 11 firefighters, in connection with the ransacking of the city hall of Montreal this past August.
The majority of the charges are for unlawful assembly, mischief and assault.
Last week, 44 employees of the city of Montreal had appeared at the courthouse for criminal charges in the same matter.
The next court date in this file is scheduled for Nov. 27.
Also last week, six firefighters were fired and penalties ranging from one week to six-month suspension without pay were imposed on 57 other employees, four white collar workers, seven blue collar workers and 46 firefighters.
The Montreal Firefighters Association Thursday announced it would be boycotting the Police and Fire World Games to be held in the city in 2017.
It’s believed that in “normal times” 10,000 police and firefighter athletes from around the world participate in the event.
Their withdrawal is in protest of Bill 3, which intends to overhaul three pension plans for municipal employees.
