A local Montreal newspaper’s website was the target of a cyber-attack Wednesday morning.
The Suburban website was taken over by a person calling himself “Laakel En Person.”
The web page is displaying a message in support of Palestinians, saying that it “has been initiated to destroy the Israeli network.”
There is also a link to the hacker’s Facebook page.
A Google search shows that this group or person has hacked many other websites.
A similar incident happened with the website of Terrasse-Vaudreuil, a small suburb west of Montreal, in January 2015. Its website was taken over by an Islamic extremist group making reference to the Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris.
