Two people are dead after a small plane crashed in a river in Levis, South of Quebec City on Saturday.

63-year-old Yves Savard, a Quebec native and a 21-year-old female French tourist were identified as the victims. 

Transportation Safety Board SB spokesperson Chris Krepski said the Grumman AA-1 two-seater crashed at around 2:00 p.m. 

Police and federal authorities are on the scene. The cause of the crash is not yet known but one witness said the plane struck an electric wire just before crashing.
