Russia is calling on Canada to extradite an alleged Nazi war criminal living in Quebec, according to a report in the Globe and Mail.
Now in his nineties, Vladimir Katriuk has been living here for more than 60 years. He is a former member of a Ukrainian battalion of the SS. Katriuk is alleged to have taken part in a massacre in Belarus in 1943.
A federal court ruled 15 years ago that there wasn't enough evidence to warrant deporting him.
The Harper government has refused to acknowledge the request for extradition. Ottawa's relationship with Russia has been strained since Russia annexed Crimea.
