Montreal’s entire metro system ground to halt Wednesday just after noon, as all trains on all four lines were stopped by a computer issue, which was finally resolved at around 1:15 p.m.

The STM transit authority initially posted a note on Twitter at 12:25 p.m. reporting that the Orange line was down, and a few minutes later added the Blue, Yellow and Green lines to that list.

Officials are blaming a computer server failure for the transportation disruption.

Shuttle buses were put on the road to replace the metro service.

Metro service was interrupted at least twice in 2012 by similar computer-related snafus.

STM representative Amelie Regis suggested that the stoppage Wednesday might have been caused by a switch to a new computer system.
