A 32-year-old man is dead after being shot by an armoured truck guard outside a bank machine at 2145 Roland-Therrien in Longueuil early Saturday morning.

According to police, the man - a Longueuil resident - was shot while attempting to rob a pair of armoured truck guards at about 1:37 a.m.

The man attacked the guards as they were leaving the premises, a Longueuil police representative later told CTV Montreal.

It appears that the robber was unarmed.
