A suspicious fire burned through a nightclub on Ste. Catherine St. overnight.
The fire started at 1:20 a.m on the second floor of the Pure Nightclub, near St. Timothee, and quickly spread to the ground floor.
Everyone inside managed to evacuated the building without injury, but one firefighter fell victim to smoke inhalation while putting out the flames.
Fire chief Luc Galarneau said the building was badly damaged but is not a total loss.
While investigating the cause, fire crews said they found accelerants which could have contributed to the spread of the fire.
The police department's arson squad has since taken over the case.
