The documentary "The Last Gladiators" looks at the life of an enforcer in the NHL.

Chris 'Knuckles' Nilan was one of those men, playing 18 years in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins, and the New York Rangers.

He told CTV News that even though he gladly participated in making the film, it was difficult to watch.

"It was real difficult the first time. I did not see the film until it was finished at the film festival.

"They offered to show it to me before the festival, but i said no, I wanted to see it there for the first time," said Nilan.

Nilan says he has always been an honest person, but during his years on ice it was not acceptable to express his feelings

"You can't show weakness. You always have to have the armour on. So when it came time to let all this out, it was relatively easy for me to do," said Nilan.
