OTTAWA -- The Competition Bureau says criminal charges have been laid against three companies including Nestle Canada and three individuals accused of fixing the price of chocolate candies in Canada.
They are charged with conspiracy under the Competition Act.
The bureau says Hershey Canada Inc. co-operated with its investigation. The agency recommended to prosecutors that the company receive lenient treatment.
It is expected that Hershey will plead guilty for its role.
The three companies charged are Nestle Canada Inc., Mars Canada Inc., and ITWAL Limited, a national network of independent wholesale distributors.
The individuals charged are former Nestle Canada president Robert Leonidas,; Sandra Martinez, former president of confectionery for Nestle Canada; and David Glenn Stevens, president and chief executive of ITWAL.
