The body of a man was found in an apartment that caught fire late Tuesday night.
Residents of a building on Dezery St. near Sherbrooke St. called 9-1-1 around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday to report the building was on fire.
Firefighters and police rushed to the scene, according to Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant.
"The fire department was able to control the fire. Following that they did some searches in the apartment and they found a body, a man aged in his fifties," said Brabant.
Firefighters tried to revive the man but they were unsuccessful.
"He was pronounced dead on site," said Brabant.
As is customary in the event of all deaths involving fires, the police arson squad has taken over the investigation to determine the cause of the fire and the man's death.
