A water main broke overnight on St. Denis St. near De Maisonneuve Blvd.
Fortunately the incident happened overnight, so most people were not disturbed when St. Denis was closed from Ontario St. to Ste. Catherine St., and De Maisonneuve was shut from Berri to Sanguinet.
City crews worked overnight to shut off the water to the busted pipeline, and managed to turn off the taps, clean up the worst of the mess, and re-open the streets by 6 a.m.
They suspect the chilly overnight temperatures cracked the pipe.
