UQAM has been granted an injunction to stop student protesters from blocking the entrances to buildings.
L'Univesité de Quebec à Montreal applied for the injunction on Monday after a small group of protesters refused to let people entre several buildings.
Administrators said the court order was a necessary first step in maintaining the rights of students who want an education.
On Wednesday a judge granted UQAM a ten-day injunction forbidding protesters from blocking access to UQAM buildings.
In his ruling the judge indicated students have the right to boycott their own classes, but have no right to prevent others from attending classe, nor to prevent classes from taking place.
Monday's protesters said they were opposing action UQAM is taking to expel nine students who have been very active in protests over the past two years, including one woman who was elected as a student representtive to the board of directors.
The expulsion hearings have been postponed until after April 24.
