Quebec’s provincial police have arrested an escaped convict after exactly 10 months on the run.
Maxime Guillemette, 41, was convicted of second degree murder in 2002 in the death of Jean-Francois Lessard.
Guillemette was known as a debt collector for the Hells Angels.
At the time of the murder, police said it may have been a setling of accounts.
Guillemette was serving his sentence at the Federal Training Centre, a minimum security federal institution in Laval.
He escaped in February 13, 2013 while on a supervised leave in the Lanaudiere region.
A Surete du Quebec spokesperson could not confirm how he managed to elude the guards who were watching him.
A police investigation led to his arrest Friday in Ste. Marie de Beauce, also in the Lanaudiere region.
Guillemette may face new charges relating to escaping custody and firearms offences.
