As Quebec prepares to accept thousands of Syrian refugees, representatives from 13 cities met to discuss how best to prepare for their arrival.

The meeting in Longueuil on Sunday focused on the $29 million the provincial government has pledged to integrate the refugees, and how it should be spent.

5,700 refugees from Syria are expected to arrive in Quebec in the next two months -- with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hoping they will arrive by Jan. 1, 2016.

Municipal Affairs Minister Pierre Moreau said he doesn't car if that date is fixed in stone.

"We will be there, and we will be ready to receive those refugees as soon as they will come in, and we want to make sure that the operation is a success. Whether or not it's before December 31 is totally irrelevant to us," said Moreau.

Quebec has disclosed a few details about its plan including that some Montreal school boards have been asked to make room for up to 2,400 Syrian children.
