Car enthusiasts are gearing up for a big weekend at the Palais des Congres. It's the 47th International Auto Show in Montreal.

Minister of Energy Pierre Arcand, was on hand for opening day and made an announcement of adding more plug-ins for electric cars.

Arcand also said it's been tough turning drivers to electric cars, because gas prices have been so low. But the government will contine to invest into a public circuit of plug-ins for electric vehicles.

They'll be investing money to increase the number of charging stations from 364 to 500 within a few months. There are 10,000 electric cars in Canada, and just over half of them are in Quebec.

The show goes on until Jan. 25.
