The Parti Quebecois has lodged a complaint with Elections Quebec about possible illegal fundraising by the Liberal party.

Pierre Duchesne said the complaint is based on a search UPAC conducted on Liberal party headquarters last year.

The PQ says unsealed warrants alleged the Liberal party raised $428,000 that is not accounted for -- but could not say when this supposed fundraising took place.

"This announcement is regarding an electoral campaign, is regarding democracy, is regarding the time to ask and to give good information to the public," said Duchesne. "The public has to choose a government and they have to receive all the information."

The complaint is apparently also related to raids on the home of former Liberal party fundraiser Marc Bibeau and some of his families.

The Bibeau family owns several construction firms including Shockbeton and Saramac, which are accused of diverting construction materials from an AMT job site to that of a family member.

Quebec's chief electoral officer say his office will analyze the PQ's complaint.
