Earlier this week PK Subban said he would have a surprise for the patients at the Montreal Children's Hospital.

On Wednesday morning, he delivered.

The star hockey player posted a video letter on his YouTube channel of a child named Gabriel delivering PK's letter to patients and their families.

Those patients then read the letter on camera, many coming to tears as they read of PK's promise that he will continue to raise $10 million for the hospital foundation despite the Canadiens trading him to the Nashville Predators.

The text of the letter follows:

To all of my friends at the hospital. Almost one year ago I decided to make one of the biggest commitments of my life.

It all started with individual or team visits, but it very quickly becaem a $10 million commitment.

I did this with the intention of helping you all through your daily battles and making a measurable impact on the community of Montreal.

Since I arrived in Montreal six years ago I have felt a connection to the hospital.

Each and every time I had the chance to meet one of you, I had the opportunity to be inspired by your stories, courage and perseverance.

Your positivity and atttitude continue to inspire me every day.

You might think that I'm doing so much for you, but the truth is that you do much more for me.

You can't imagine how important it is to watch you get better and leave the hospital with your families.

But just because I have a new address doesn't mean that my commitment to you and the hospital is going to change one bit.

But even while living in Nashville I still expect Valentine's Day letters, virtual letters, and spontaneous songs.

In return I will never stop fundraising or raising awareness for all of you. And don't worry, I'll be back for many more surprise visits.

With all my love and best wishes.

I love you guys.

In the past year PK has raised more than $1.2 million of his $10 million pledge, including more than $130,000 at Monday's Just For Laughs gala where he roasted his former manager and coach.

PK will return to Montreal for a fundraising dinner on Aug. 31
