On Sunday, the Montreal Children's Hospital will move to the MUHC’s new Glen site, where the ER and operating rooms will offer patients a new standard of care.
With one foot still in the old world and one foot in the new, the e-r and surgical are saying goodbye to cramped quarters and hello to cutting edge.
The brand new facility makes the soon-to-be old Montreal Children's Hospital look tired – the surgical floor has seen better days and as storage space lessens, the corridors become cramped and untidy with supplies piled up.
That’s why everyone’s looking forward to the big move to the new Glen site Sunday, where staff and patients will enjoy a more spacious, i-beam design, state-of the-art technology and patient-focused care.
“We all hoped that this would come quicker, but it's finally here and I think we're all excited to get in,” said Dr. Harley Eisman, director of emergency services. “The city and the province should be excited, this is a big deal!”
