Mayor Denis Coderre has presented his plan to increase security for the city's taxi drivers.
As of August, the industry will abide by a new set of industry standards.
The new rules will have many elements, but what the mayor stressed Monday afternoon is that all taxis will now be outfitted with security cameras.
The mayor says he'd like see this happen by the end of 2014.
Ads will also be installed in vehicles to help pay for the cameras.
