Montreal police (SPVM) is investigating after a business in the Sud-Ouest borough was the target of a potential fire early Wednesday morning.

The force received a 911 call at 2:15 a.m. about the incident on Wellington Street near Charon Street.

"When police officers arrived on site, a window was smashed, and also an incendiary object was on the floor," said Mariane Allaire Morin, a spokesperson with Montreal police.

Damage to the business was considered minor.

"The scene is now protected because it's a criminal event," said Allaire Morin. "There are no suspects, no witnesses and no victims."

An investigation is underway.
