Montreal Impact midfielder Ballou Tabla has apologized for missing Tuesday’s training session with the club.

According to reports, the Quebec native has asked for a transfer to a European club and has garnered interest from at least one team, but the Impact has denied his request.

On Twitter, Tabla asked his teammates, coaches and fans for forgiveness.

“Yes, I’m ambitious and want to reach the highest levels in my careers, but I’m aware I have an agreement with my team that I must respect,” he wrote. “I never wanted to be a distraction and I will continue to help my team reach its goals.”

The promising 18-year-old missed the Impact’s last game with a knee injury. He has two goals in 16 MLS games this season and added another goal in three games during the Canadian Championship.

Tabla is under contract with the Impact through the end of the 2018 season.
