One man has died after a fire broke out Wednesday evening in a small town about 65 km southeast of Montreal.
The fire began around 10:45 p.m in an old building on the main street, Rue Principale, in Notre Dame de Stanbridge.
Firefighters rushed to the scene after being alerted by neighbours, and early reports were they had found an unconscious woman inside.
Authorities later said the person discovered was a man, who died in hospital.
Firefighters put out the flames without too much trouble, but the damage to the four-unit building was extensive.
Sureté du Quebec investigators will be on hand Thursday to determine the cause of the fire.
