MONTREAL—Another person has been arrested for allegedly threatening Montreal police commander Ian Lafreniere.

A 43- year-old man was apprehended in Westmount on Wednesday night. Police say the man is known to them. He will face charges of death threats and intimidating a police officer.

Last week, a young woman tied to student protests was arrested after sharing an image of lafreniere on a social media website. The image showed a depiction of the commander with a bullet hole in his head. According to the police, an investigation of the woman unearthed evidence that led to her arrest.

Lafreniere is the head of the media relations division of the Montreal police. He was highly visible during last year’s student protests.

Montreal police spokesman Dany Richer said that the accused man will be in court on Friday, he warned that the man could face more severe charges once in court.
