A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with alleged sexual offences against minors committed over the last year.

Laval police (SPL) says it arrested Steve Haddad on Dec. 5 after several alleged victims were identified across Quebec.

"The investigation revealed that the suspect had approached teenage girls via social media," the force said. "Following conversations, leading to the creation of a bond of trust, he asked them for intimate images."

Haddad faces charges of luring a child, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and sexual assault.

He appeared at the Laval courthouse and remains in custody.

The force says it has reason to believe there may be other victims and is asking anyone with information to call the confidential info line at 450 662- INFO (4636) or dial 911 and mention file LVL 240903-049.
