MONTREAL - Frank Klopas is the new coach of the Montreal Impact.
The former Chicago Fire coach will replace Marco Schallibaum with the titles of head coach and director of player personnel.
The former U.S. international striker is the team's third head coach in as many seasons in Major League Soccer.
Klopas played nine seasons in his native Greece before moving to MLS in 1996. He won an MLS Cup as a player with the Fire in 1998. He later served as technical director and head coach in Chicago.
Assistant coach Mauro Biello, goalkeeper coach Youssef Dahha and fitness coach Paolo Pacione will remain in their jobs. However, Philippe Eullaffroy was dropped as assistant coach but will continue to director the club's academy.
Director of soccer operations Matt Jordan was promoted to technical director.
