There are health concerns about the quality of drinking water at a downtown Montreal school.

High levels of lead have been found at FACE school on University St.

The school sent a letter home to parents Thursday advising them that students and staff are being given bottled water until the situation is resolved.

In the letter, director Annie Lamarre, said the lead was discovered on Monday.

FACE is currently carrying out work to install new piping for the school's water fountains.

Until the work is completed the school's drinking water supply has been shut down.

There is no indication if lead contamination is from plumbing inside the school, or from another source.
