Here are the Montreal-area weekend road closures due to construction
Those driving in and around Montreal on the weekend should be aware of road closures due to construction. In addition, the REM light-rail line will alter its schedules in January.
Highway 40 / Charles-de Gaulle Bridge
- From Friday at 11.30 p.m. to Saturday at 6:30 a.m., Highway 40 will be closed between the Henri-Bourassa Boulevard exit (89) and the Route-344 / Saint-Charles Road access, including the Charles-De Gaulle Bridge.
- As a result, access from Marien Avenue and Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Tricentenaire and Henri Bourassa boulevards will be default closures starting at 9:30 p.m.
- From Saturday at 6:30 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., one of three eastbound lanes will be closed on the Charles-De Gaulle Bridge.

Sherbrooke Street East
- From Friday at 9 a.m. to Sunday at 7 p.m. , Sherbrooke Street eastbound will be closed between Papineau Avenue and Cartier Street with one lane open in the westbound direction.
Papineau Avenue
- For at least a month, two of three lanes on Papineau Avenue south will be closed between Rene-Levesque Boulevard and Viger Avenue. The right lane of Viger Avenue west will also be closed.
REM (Réseau express métropolitain)
The following are schedule changes for all weekends in January:
- Final departure: Fridays 10, 17 and 24 and Saturdays 11, 18 and 25 January, 11:30 p.m. from
- Montréal / Gare Centrale and 11:10 p.m. from Brossard.
- Late first train: on Saturdays 11, 18 and 25 and Sundays 12, 19 and 26 January, service will start at 1:45 p.m.
In the event of adverse weather conditions or operational constraints, the works may be cancelled or modified. Check Quebec511.info regularly for current and future disruptions.
