Former federal Finance Minister Joe Oliver is joining a Montreal think tank.
The Montreal Economic Institute announced Wednesday that Oliver is joining the organization as a "Distinguished Senior Fellow"
He will be conducting research on public finances and natural resources, among other matters, and will also be a spokesperson for the group.
During his time in parliament as a Conservative MP for the Toronto riding of Eglinton-Lawrence, Oliver served as Finance Minister and Natural Resources Minister.
Before entering politics in 2011, Oliver was an investment banker and the Executive Director of the Ontario Securities Commission.
Oliver is originally from Montreal and attended McGill University. He is also a member of the Quebec Bar.
