A five-alarm fire broke out overnight in a commercial/residential building on Queen-Mary Rd. & Decarie Blvd.
The fire started at 11:30 p.m. in the basement and spread quickly, forcing several residents to evacuate their homes.
Firefighters estimated the damage to the building would cost $150,000 to repair.
The fire department brought in 90 firefighters to put out the flames -- a task they finally achieved about three hours after the fire began.
The families that had to evacuate will not be allowed to return home for some time.
