Dominique Anglade is ending her reign as president of the opposition CAQ, a post she has held since January 2012.

Anglade, 39, seen as one of her party's rising stars, ran for the CAQ in the Fabre riding in 2012, losing to Liberal Gilles Ouimet by 3,500 votes.

Her mandate as president was likely to have been renewed in November but she has opted instead to pursue an opportunity at an economic development agency, a position that requires political neutrality.

She will continue her functions with the future coalitionists until November when a new president will be chosen.

Anglade is an engineer by trade and is the daughter of well-known Haitian academics who both perished in the earthquake of 2010.
