A cyclist was killed in Griffintown Wednesday at about 4 p.m. as his bicycle slid under the wheels of a tow truck at the corner of Wellington and de la Montagne.
The cyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was traveling east and rode up between two cars which had stopped at the red light.
His bicycle slipped under the truck just as the light changed.
He was killed immediately as the vehicle accelerated. The cyclist was declared dead at the scene.
The street was closed to traffic on both sides, forcing the thousands of cars attempting to access the Victoria Bridge to find other routes.
Police are investigating.
