Chester, the seven-month-old kitten that was found in Trudeau airport Wednesday, is in good health and heading home to Vancouver soon.
The Scottish Fold kitten was lost by Air Canada last month. It’s believed he escaped from his carrier.
Employees searched the airport for days but were unable to locate the grey cat. Finally, he was spotted by a worker Wednesday and lured into a cage with some food.
Chester was brought to a veterinarian in Montreal. He was a bit skinny and dehydrated, but overall doing well.
Chester’s Vancouver-based owner, Amanda Stewart, bought the kitten from a Quebec breeder for about $1,200 and had arranged to have him shipped by Air Canada. Somehow Chester managed to escape.
Currently, Chester is staying with the sister of Quebec breeder, Polina Rolich.
“Nothing bad happened to him, so I guess he was hiding,” says Rolich. “He was afraid and he was hiding because he’s never been outside.”
In the next few days, Chester will be flown to his new home in Vancouver, all expenses paid and in the care of an Air Canada employee.
