Next Sunday, the Montreal Children’s Hospital will move into its new home at the Glen site.

The staff’s priority now is making sure the MUHC's youngest patients make the big trip in safety and comfort.

Cindy Sherwin will bring you four special reports on the move, and the first looks at the most vulnerable patients: babies in the neonatal intensive care unit, or NICU.

The unit is a special place, where staff and volunteers are reminded every day of the wonder and challenges of a new beginning.

In the report, you will meet Sister Virginia Lafleur, a retired teacher who, twice a week for the last 18 years, has spent hours volunteering on the unit.

She started volunteering to give back, and then something unexpected happened.

“It's a two way street but I feel by far, I receive more. I could come here and feel very tired and lots of things going on and they put the baby in my arms… I feel so much at peace, that's what it is. I try to convey that peace to the little ones,” she says.
