- Galchenyuk sure is playing better since goal 20. He won't admit it and I would not expect him to but the confidence is high since getting the watermark in the books. It was Galchenyuk who won the blue line to set up Petry for the opening goal. He also won the puck to forward the play on the 2-0. Little more overtime would be good for him. Still has not earned the coach's trust defensively.
- Gilbert back in so quickly I didn't think was all that necessary, but he sure used his head reading the play for 2-2. Saw it develop very early and was off to the races for the Parenteau pass. Nice feather to a spot by Parenteau too for Gilbert to move into without breaking stride.
- Lars Eller with his 13th goal of the season. He has been one of the best forwards on the team since the trading deadline fear was lifted off his back. Eller with 13 considering third line minutes, match ups, zone starts and no powerplay time. Considering his physical presence and wins along the walls, is 13 really so bad? No. It isn't. He would hit 20 easy with line mates and power play time.
- Outstanding game from Jeff Petry. Besides the goal, he almost had a goal on another pinch by the D but what was more impressive than the just wide shot was how fast he got back into the play to defend. Petry has great wheels. He was taking the body too in this one. All around one of his best for the Habs.

- A couple of thoughts about the power play... I have said this before but why switch sides for Subban and Markov 30 seconds after getting control? Just start that way. I think they can handle being on the wrong side defensively because after all, they are Subban and Markov. They're fairly good. The other power play point is why is Pacioretty beside the net in a non-shooting location? He's a sniper. Put him where he can receive passes with the best view of the entire net and where it is easiest to receive them - i.e. not across his body. Give your best players the best chance to succeed. Again, the power play does not have to be this poor. In fact, an obvious example of what can be good for the Habs PP is when Subban can one time it with a shot that doesn't come across his body - the much easier one-timer with the 4-4 goal.

- Some 1,400 regular-season games for linesman Jean Morin. Good for him and good for the fans who gave him a standing ovation. That's right... a standing ovation for a linesman. It's a religion here for sure.
- The Caps did almost nothing 5 on 5. It was pretty close to an impeccable game from the Habs 5 on 5 but you can see what a good power play brings. The Habs and their fans should not be that upset by this one going to overtime. Stay out of the box and look at some film to stop the Caps power play should they meet in the playoffs because if you control 5 on 5 that well then you usually are successful over a seven-game series. We shall see if they meet, it would be one hell of a series.
- Price remains stuck at 41 wins as 42 remains elusive. Plante and Dryden aren't giving up the all-time record without a fight.
