Boat owners are nervously checking their insurance policies after a blaze in a storage shed in Oka damaged several watercraft.
The fire broke out Friday night at the Pointe aux Anglais Yacht Club in Oka, leaving several hundred of thousands in damage to the boats.
Police are investigating the possibility of arson at the facility bordering the Lake of Two Mountains.
“We saw that the flames were really high, so we decided to leave. We were scared that the boats would explode,” witness Rachel Gilbert told CTV Montreal.
One boat owner was stoic about the loss of his beloved vessel. "It's an accident. What can you do except contact insurance?"
The owner of the yacht club declined an interview request.
