Panama police are reporting that they have received more specific details of former MUHC chief Arthur Porter’s alleged misdeeds.
They say that Porter, “extracted information from different companies and sold the information to other companies for hiring purposes, being compensated with important sums of money."
In short, Porter was allegedly selling insider information during the construction of the $1.3 billion superhospital.
CTV Montreal contacted Porter’s lawyer Ricardo Bilonick Friday but he declined to respond to the allegations, stating that he was was en route to a meeting and could not discuss the case immediately.
Porter has reportedly been moved to another jail in Panama.
The former head of the McGill superhospital project was apparently transferred to the country's largest prison, the La Joya detention centre, where he is being held with other foreigners.
Those same reports say his wife Pamela, who was also arrested earlier this week, is now in a women's prison in Panama.
The couple's lawyer says the pair will fight extradition to Canada where they are wanted on charges of fraud and money laundering in connection to the McGill superhospital complex.
On Friday the Panama National Police revealed new details about the allegations against Porter, saying "he extracted information from different companies and sold the information to other companies for hiring purposes, being compensated with important sums of money."
Police allege Porter was selling insider information during the bidding process for the $1.3 billion contract.
