MONTREAL—Three employees required treatment on Sunday evening after emergency crews responded to an ammonia leak at a food distributor in Riviere-des-Prairies.
Firefighters were called to Sysco Services at 11:07 p.m. on Sunday after what fire department official Michel Girard described as an ammonia leak from a compressor in an industrial refrigerator.
Seven ambulances and fire trucks responded to the leak, with 51 firefighters called to assist. On the scene for two hours, the employees were treated on site and were ready to return to work by 1:00 a.m.
