The Sandy Hook killings have hit home for many families, even for those who have never been to Connecticut.
The principal of Hampstead Elementary school, Steven Erdelyi, said many children at his school were aware of the events.
"I felt wasn't the teacher's place to let students know if they didn't know, but what I had said is for the younger children if a student is aware and has concerns to definitely deal with it," said Erdelyi.
