One man was shot in the leg overnight inside a bar in NDG.

Police say the gunman walked into the Liquid Lounge shortly after midnight looking for one person in particular. When he found his victim he drew his weapon and opened fire, striking the man in the leg.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

The victim was rushed into surgery in hospital. He is expected to survive and when police spoke to him later in the day he refused to co-operate..

Police set up a perimeter near the bar on Sherbrooke St. and Grey Ave. overnight while they looked for clues, but stopped around daybreak when the area had been thoroughly examined.

Officers also plan to look at surveillance video from the neighbourhood in hopes of identifying the suspect, who so far is only described as being a white male in his twenties or thirties, "possibly wearing a white cap."

The Liquid Lounge has been the scene of violence on several occasions. In March one man was shot while leaving the bar, and last year an arsonist set fire to the building.

About a year ago a former owner of the bar, Mathew Kustra, went missing and has yet to be located.
