Wrong-way driver causes crash on Highway 20 in West Island

A driver suffered serious injuries after colliding with a vehicle driven being driven in the wrong direction by a man in his 80s on Highway 20 near Woodland Thursday morning.
The collision occurred around 4:45 a.m. The vehicle travelling in the correct direction caught fire after the incident. SQ officers put out the flames.
The driver travelling in the correct direction is still in hospital, but is expected to survive.
Police closed the roadway for some time following the crash.
It is unknown why the man was driving westbound on the eastbound lane. Police have asked SAAQ to re-evaluate the elderly man's driving capability.
