Two men charged after vehicle stolen from Winnipeg found in Onanole

Manitoba RCMP has charged two people after a vehicle stolen out of Winnipeg was found in Onanole, Man.

The investigation began on Monday at 8 a.m. when Mounties were informed that a vehicle stolen from Winnipeg was tracked to a location in Neepawa, Man.

Officers went to Neepawa, but the vehicle was no longer there. Police then received an update that the vehicle and its occupants were heading towards Onanole.

Officers with the Dauphin, Neepawa and Wasagaming detachments, as well as police dog services, then began to make their way to the new location.

Once in Onanole, officers found the suspect vehicle at a business on Wapati Drive with two men inside. The driver was arrested without incident, but the passenger managed to run away.

Police dog Marook tracked down the suspect, and Mounties placed him under arrest.

A 28-year-old man from Saskatoon, Sask., is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

A 25-year-old man from Steinbach, Man., is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and resisting arrest. He was also found to have an outstanding arrest warrant out of Winnipeg.

Both were released from custody to appear in court at a later date.

Police continue to investigate.
