Construction work is scheduled for the Jacques Cartier Bridge this weekend, but it should wrap up before Sunday's half-marathon.

The sidewalk and the access ramp leading to Jean Drapeau Park from the Montreal-bound side of the bridge will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. on Sunday.

As a detour, drivers heading to the island can proceed into Montreal, loop around via De Maisonneuve, and then get onto the outbound direction of the bridge.

Those coming off the island will have to go to the South Shore and take Mercier St. and St. Laurent St. before getting on the inbound bridge.

Construction crews will be waterproofing the concrete deck of that section of the bridge, but the work will be delayed in the event of wet weather.

The 5 km Scotiabank run starts at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, and the half-marathon begins at 10 a.m.
