Crews worked overnight to stop water flowing from a broken water main on Rene Levesque Blvd., and will fix the pipe on Friday.

The pipe broke around 8 p.m. Thursday and forced the closure of westbound Rene Levesque between Beaver Hall Hill and St. Alexandre St.

Around 10 p.m the borough said the leak was under control, with the water flowing directly into sewers.

Overnight the leak was stopped completely, and there are no signs that any of the nearby buildings were flooded.

Several lanes will be closed Friday and Saturday during the day as crews isolate the broken section of pipe and make repairs.
