A water main break has flooded streets on the south side of the downtown core.
A truck driving into a fire hydrant at 2 a.m. near the intersection of St. Paul St. and Inspector Rd., just west of where University Blvd. turns into the Bonaventure Expressway.
That burst pipe forced water through a crack in the asphalt and created a large pool of water stretching for about one block in each direction. A highrise condo tower on Inspector also lost water pressure.
City crews took the cover off a manhole to let the water drain, then took the cover off another manhole to turn off the water flow.
They expect to repair the problem by 8 p.m Thursday.
