WESTMOUNT - Police are searching for clues after a 22-year-old man was shot and killed on Wednesday night in Westmount.

The victim was in an apartment on Clarke Ave., between Sherbrooke St. and de Maisonneuve Blvd., just before 11 p.m., when he got into an argument with another man.

Police say the fight carried both men outside, where the victim was shot three times, once in the neck.

The victim was taken to hospital and pronounced dead. He has been identified as Jason Peagram, a graduate of Lower Canada College who studied economics at Concordia University.

The shooter fled the scene, and police have yet to confirm if he ran away or used a vehicle.

Police are looking for more witnesses, and closed off that block of Clarke St. overnight and into Thursday morning while they searched for clues.

Peagram's roommate has been spoken to and police don't consider him a suspect.

"There are no suspects on our radar for now," said Daniel Lacoursiere of Montreal police.

They are looking for the drivers of two cars, one green and one black, that were double-parked outside the building before the shooting. Police say they don't have any theories about what led to the murder.

The shots were fired almost directly across the street from l'école St. Léon de Westmount. Classes went ahead as scheduled on Thursday.

It was the first homicide on the island of Montreal in 2011.
