Quebec’s anti-corruption police unit raided ten locations on Wednesday, including Terrebonne city hall.

Police said the raids, which involved over 100 UPAC and Surete du Quebec officers, were made in connection with an investigation into the awarding of public contracts.

UPAC spokesperson Anne-Frederick Laurence said no arrests would be made and no details made public until the investigation is complete and officers are able to recommend charges.

Terrebonne Mayor Jean-Marc Robitaille admitted in 2014 to lying about his ties to Tony Accurso, a construction magnate who is facing multiple charges of fraud and corruption and whose name came up repeatedly in the Charbonneau Commission hearings.

At those hearings, Robitaille admitted to twice staying on Accurso’s yacht for free. He said he thought the trips were of a personal nature and did not result in any business advantages for Accurso.

A spokesperson for Terrebonne city hall said officials are cooperating with UPAC agents and declined to comment further.
