Shots in downtown Montreal leave 1 dead, 2 injured

One man is dead and two others are in hospital after shots were fired in downtown Montreal Tuesday evening, according to Montreal police (SPVM).

According to the force, at 7:55 p.m., a 911 call was made concerning a man shot near Saint-Antoine and de la Montagne streets, near the Bell Centre.

When police arrived, they initially found no victims.

However, two men, both in their 20s, were later located near the Georges-Vanier Metro station.

One of the men was pronounced dead on site, while the other was rushed to hospital with severe injuries.

Witnesses told police that a person inside a car opened fire on a second vehicle before fleeing the scene.

A short while later, a third man around the same age was discovered near Saint-Antoine and Saint-Martin streets with injuries to his lower body.

Police could not say if this third victim was in the vehicle that was shot at near the Bell Centre.

He was also transported to hospital in critical condition.

Both men are now considered to be in stable condition.

No arrests have been made.

A perimeter has been established to allow police to gather more information.
