Family and friends gathered Sunday afternoon to bid a final farewell to the four Montrealers who died near Kingston, Ontario on Tuesday, on their way home from a family holiday.
The bodies of three sisters -- Zainab, 19, Sahar, 17, and Geeti, 13 -- were discovered inside a Nissan Sentra submerged in a Rideau Canal lock near Kingston.
Their aunt, Rona Amir Mohammed, was also found in the car.
They were laid to rest Sunday at an islamic cemetery in Laval, after a private service.
Friends and neighbours attended the ceremony, lending their support to a grieving family.
"It's too much. I cannot believe it. Myself I cannot believe it. I cannot believe that accident could happen like this," said Ezatt Pazzoki.
"It's hard to take, it's hard to take," said Mario Carpanzano, who lives near the family. "The mother and the father they are having a hard time."
At the burial, the girl's father was having a hard time breathing and required an ambulance.
Police aren't sure how the car ended up in the water
But last week the father said he suspects Zainab may have gone on a joy ride, with her sisters and their relative in tow.
Even though she didn't have a driver's licence
Autopsies were performed on the bodies, but the Ontario coroner has yet to release the information concerning the causes of death.
Police are still reviewing security camera footage from near the accident scene.
