No one was hurt when a suspicious envelope was discovered at Montreal city hall Tuesday morning.
An employee found the envelope around 10 a.m. It was white, normal sized, filled with a red unidentified powder, according to Cst. Daniel Fortier.
The envelope was addressed to Mayor Denis Coderre, but nothing on it indicated who the sender was.
No one was evacuated and no one was harmed by the powder that was inside.
Police have seized the envelope and an investigation is underway into identifying the substance.
