It may only be the beginning of February, but for the Montreal’s Irish community, St. Patrick’s Day festivities are already underway.

The St. Patricks' Parade queen and her court were chosen Saturday night at the 58th annual event event in LaSalle.

The queen is 23-year-old Alyssa Caughy, whose Irish ancestry stems from her father's side, who come from just outside Belfast in County Down.

Caughy is studying high school education at McGill University.

She's joined by four princesses, who will make up her court. They are: Elspeth McMurray, Cristina McHenry, Ashley Clarkson and Ashley Couture.

The queen and her court will take centre stage at this year's St. Patrick's Parade, put on by the United Irish Societies of Montreal.

The parade will take place on St Patrick's Day this year, which is Sunday, March 17.

The Montreal St. Patrick’s Parade has run consecutively since 1824 and has been organized by the United Irish Societies of Montreal since 1929.
